When I moved into my new house, I knew I wanted custom Roman Shades. The kitchen required large panels of Roman Shades. My dining room had big windows and a long window in the living room that went all the way across its width. I wanted to hang Custom-made Roman Shades but they were going to be SO expensive and I needed 6 fairly large panels. When I started to research solutions to my problem I found that I could make them myself. This was a great solution so I’m sharing with you, DIY Roman Shades: Custom Window Treatments on a Budget.

Have fun with these – Get Creative !! You should be able to purchase a good fabric for literally a fraction of the cost of having them custom-made. Decide on the main color in your room and choose a fabric that has that color in it in order to keep your room cohesive.

I solved my problem: by making my own Roman Shades out of Venetian Blinds, and so can you. Not only were they quick & easy to make, but they didn’t cost me a fortune. That’s a win-win in my books! If you’re feeling really ambitious, you could make some throw cushions from the same fabric. It would be a great way to tie them in with the rest of the room 🙂
