Which-A-Way, located on Lake Toxaway, NC, is a 5,942 sq ft home that serves as a wonderful family gathering place. The home was designed and constructed by Platt. This project was one that grew in scale from a party barn into the family lodge it is today. Featured on the show Barnwood Builders, the home was constructed with an eye to old west design. Reclaimed wood for beams, floors, and handmade railings was used. The team stuck to the simplicity of the form – making the home big in scale, but still simple in its design. Other rustic design elements include locally sourced black lotus decking and stone from Hoopers Creek Quarry in Asheville.

History of Lake Toxaway, NC
If your bucket list says Switzerland but your bank account says not this year, the small but stunning Lake Toxaway, NC, may be just the ticket. It is only three hours from Charlotte, tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains between Brevard and Cashiers. This secluded oasis is the first and largest artificial private lake in the Appalachian Mountains. Built in 1902, the lake was originally frequented by the likes of Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and the Rockefellers. Lake Toxaway was known in the early 1900s as “America’s Switzerland” because of its resemblance to the dreamy mountainside lakes in the Alps. Today, its 14 miles of shoreline, crisp water, private seclusion, and panoramic mountain views attract visitors throughout the year.
